The film details the history of the City on the Neva River and of the Russian Tsars who made significant contributions to its creation and development.
Founded by Peter the Great in 1703, St. Petersburg became the new capital and one of Russia’s most magnificent cities. Its extraordinary beauty and unique atmosphere were admired by many artists and poets. Despite all the tribulations of the 20th century, St. Petersburg preserves its aura and still holds the unofficial title of Russia's "cultural capital".
Experience a breath-taking panorama of St. Petersburg from the bird's-eye view and walk along its rivers and canals, streets and bridges. Visit its celebrated art galleries - the State Hermitage Museum and the Russian Museum - and marvel at the majestic interiors of its beautiful churches: Saint Isaac's Cathedral, Kazan Cathedral, Smolny Cathedral and Peter and Paul Cathedral.
The soundtrack includes classical and modern music performed by a selection of St. Petersburg's celebrated musicians.
In 2003 the film received an award at the International Festival of Documentary Films in Baile Godovra, Romania.
